Pros

Ample opportunities and a challenging career.

Many talented, professional software engineering teams are involved to support world-class services.

Cons

Work/life balance is also ranked low in each year's Work Health Index, but management does not seem to take this seriously, particularly for those working in the online cloud computing environment requiring 24x7.

Sometimes there is a need to deal with legacy infrastructure before some improvements can be made to enhance systems. A lot of overheads are involved in performing some legacy tasks with less return on investment. Slowly we are becoming to embrace open software standards but it takes lots of time to retrain workers with Windows knowledge.

Advice to Management

Reviewing the model, even though getting rid of stack ranking, is essentially the same as leads and managers must still provide a virtual ranking stack as a way to reward and evaluate individuals. We were still losing good talent every year, as the open-source community has been able to attract more talent.
