Worked for Microsoft for 8 years in Ireland and in Redmond, Seattle. A great company to work for. There's a very large difference between the environment in Dublin, Ireland, and Redmond, Seattle - both very positive in their own way.
No real cons that I would warn a friend about, except perhaps that Microsoft employees work very hard.
Leaders are a bit too hands-off. While this enables a lot of employee freedom of action, a bit more direction would definitely not hurt.
I had to meet with four interviewers. The last one was an optional "as appropriate" interview. All questions were coding-related. I was evaluated on how I solved the problems. I was very nervous, but this wasn't held against me.
There were many interviewers, each providing a few coding questions. They were not too easy, nor too difficult. It was very fair, and the interviewers were fun to talk with.
Excellent process and thorough. I interviewed with several engineers and received prompt follow-up. They also set up all the travel and other arrangements for a successful interview. However, there was some waiting time between interviews.
