Pros
  • Great product
  • Good base salary
  • No overtimes
  • Home office bonus during covid
  • Compensation for public transport
  • Free lunch and sometimes breakfast in the office.
Cons
  • Micromanagement from all levels of engineering leadership.
  • Top-down technical decisions from the CTO to feature teams.
  • High level of bureaucracy, similar to large enterprise companies.
  • Bad tooling, which makes the day-to-day engineering job incredibly difficult.
  • Bad engineering culture, which is hard to change because of constant pressure about deadlines.
  • Hybrid-office strategy: 2-3 mandatory days in the office instead of full remote.
  • Non-competitive total compensation.
Advice to Management
  • Switch to a "trust by default" strategy.
  • Increase autonomy and ownership for feature teams.
  • Try to build good engineering culture, tools, and processes as soon as possible.
