The interviewer had a particular solution in mind that took a different approach from my own. My solution was algorithmically correct, but it was not one that they were familiar with. They preferred a non-closed form solution.

Pros: The company has a stable, focused product, and great people and management. The engineers are knowledgeable and friendly, and management seems competent and has a surprisingly good understanding of the technical internals.
Engineers are given the autonomy to work on projects without much red tape. Project deadlines and staffing are reasonable, support isn't difficult, and developer tooling is pretty good.
Cons: Company stock price fluctuates up and down without clear long-term growth. There's not as much system design work to do, and opportunities for growth are limited in that way.
