A recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn regarding a job position. My interview process began with two phone interviews (with the director and hiring manager). Since I was unable to come for an on-site interview, the recruiter arranged two video interviews.

I performed well in all interviews. During my last video interview, I asked the director about the next steps. He mentioned that reaching this point usually means an offer is imminent.

The next day, the recruiter discussed numbers and RSUs. We did not agree on some figures, so he revised them. Everything seemed positive, and I was expecting an offer letter.

However, one day the recruiter called and asked me to come on-site to meet the team before extending an offer. I attended the on-site interview, which lasted three hours and involved meeting the team. Afterward, the recruiter stated he would provide an update within a day or two.

After a few days with no word, I contacted the recruiter. He informed me that they had other candidates to interview before making a decision. A month later, they informed me that they had selected another candidate who was more suitable for the role.

I am unhappy with how this was handled. My interview process, from start to final decision, took four months. I also found it confusing why they discussed salary and RSUs so early on. I was quite shocked by the unprofessionalism of the process.

I am very disappointed with the company's work culture and ethics. I cannot recommend MongoDB. The interview process took four months and was a waste of my time.
