Process

Cheap lairs. Beware of the Morgan HR person who says they will make you a job offer. They really messed me over, similar to what happened to another person who posted a comment. They say they will make an offer, then turn around and screw you. I had to turn down a solid offer while the Morgan HR person told me they were getting approval for the compensation package.

There were two rounds of technical phone screens, followed by six rounds of in-person interviews, and a final HR interview.

During the final HR interview, they gave me all the information on the benefits package: 20 days vacation, 401k, medical, and gym. They then asked what salary I was looking for. I gave them a number and told them I had another offer from another company that needed a reply in two days. I was told they would run the numbers quickly and get back to me.

Here was the reply from HR:

  • 1st week: "We are still very interested, sorry to keep you waiting."
  • 2nd week: "The approving manager is out of office."
  • 3rd week: "Still waiting on approval, will get back to you shortly."
  • 4th week: "Sorry for the wait, we're still working on it."
  • 5th week: No reply.
  • 6th week: "We're very sorry we can't move forward due to budget changes; headcount is no longer available."

This was a total lie. I had a Morgan friend check the HR person's calendar availability in the fifth week to see if the HR person was busy. Because the calendar was open, my friend could see that the HR person was still bringing in people for the same position ID. This leads me to believe they went with another person who was asked for a lower salary.

They really messed me over. In this economy, jobs are hard to come by. I had to turn down a solid opportunity because Morgan HR assured me that they would extend an offer. I guess you really can't trust a shady bail-out company. Who knows, maybe they really need to save the money for an upcoming settlement with the SEC or clients they screwed over.
