Java/Scala Developer Interview Experience

Process

I had a total of 6 Zoom interviews over more than 2 months. They had requested for 9 interviews, but 3 of them were either postponed or canceled for various reasons, such as the interviewer not showing up or the person who scheduled the interviews not realizing I had already been interviewed by that individual.

All interviews focused on similar topics: background, recent projects, one small coding problem (moderate difficulty), and discussions about system design and databases. While the questions and discussions were good, the process felt repetitive across all 6 interviews. I tried to contact the recruiter multiple times regarding the interview structure, such as whether coding was involved, if an IDE or whiteboard would be used, or if there were specific skill sets to focus on, but I never received a single response, except for interview schedules.

Pros:

  • Good interview questions
  • Focused more on thought process instead of a single, ideal outcome.

Cons:

  • No feedback was provided after any interview or at the end.
  • No response from the recruiter regarding the hiring process or interview structure.
  • Repetitive interviews.
  • Not even a rejection email after so many interviews.
