Process

There was a 20-minute phone screen with the manager, followed by a one-on-one meeting with just the manager.

He never mentioned that the project was just for show, nor that neither he nor his boss actually cared if the project ever succeeded. The senior folks gave up and left after a year.

Note: This refers to multiple architects, each with over 20 years of experience, working as consultants. All of them simultaneously walked away from a high-paying gig in frustration because the managers refused to manage their project.
