Software Engineer - Java Developer Interview Experience - London, United Kingdom

Process

I applied for a Java Developer role at Morgan Stanley in March 2024.

I had an initial call with the recruiter to discuss the role further.

INTERVIEW FOR PROJECT 1 The first round, a video interview, was conducted on April 16th, 2024. It consisted of three parts: a code review, a pair coding session, and a system design round. Different interviewers conducted each part within the same call. I believe I performed my best.

INTERVIEW FOR PROJECT 2 A subsequent 30-minute phone interview was conducted on April 25th, 2024. This initial interview was for a different project within the same organization. Surprisingly, they had openings in more than one project at that time, and each project required its own distinct interview process. Basic Java interview questions were asked for this round. It went well, and I had high hopes!

FINAL ONSITE INTERVIEW FOR PROJECT 1 A 1-hour final interview was scheduled for May 7th, 2024, at the Morgan Stanley office in Canary Wharf, London.

INTERVIEW CANCELLED The final onsite interview was cancelled one day before the scheduled date. The reason given was "Due to a review of the head count."

FOLLOW-UP AFTER INTERVIEW CANCELLATION

  • June 2024: Recruiter replied, "The situation is still the same here, and we are waiting for the outcome of our business review currently. When things change here, we will get in touch with you to share any opportunity. Unfortunately, I do not have any further information I can share at the moment."
  • August 2024: No response.
  • October 2024: No response.

Still no response!

This was the worst interview experience I have had in my life. Despite reaching out multiple times, I have not received any response. Given the considerable time and effort I invested in the technical rounds, and the success I achieved in passing all of them, I hope they will improve their communication and treat candidates with more respect.

Questions
