Beware: the recruiter of this company uses bait and switch tactics.

My recruiter repeatedly asked about my expected salary, both on the phone and in emails. I made my expectations very clear at least three times.

At the offer stage, the recruiter presented a much lower offer, lower than my current salary.

The recruiter stated this position couldn't pay what I asked for, implying they knew all along they couldn't meet my expected salary.

They made me like the company a lot throughout the interview process, but I lost my trust in Niantic and immediately rejected their offer. If they lie before you join, what else would they do if you work there?

The entire process consisted of:

• One phone screen
• One onsite with two technical interview rounds and a chat with current employees
• A round of executive phone screen

I wasted a huge amount of personal and vacation time on this company.

The technical interviews were fun and challenging. The engineers were friendly and professional. I very much enjoyed the interviewers. What a shame they had bad HR practices.
