Process

HR contacted me and quickly provided the job details, then sent my resume to the team. They were excited to interview me. In total, I had five technical interviews.

Round 1: Basic Linux skills, including tools to check performance and solve problems. The HR team responded the next day to plan for the next steps. Since I was close to receiving an offer from another company, they arranged the remaining four interviews on the same day, one after another. Two interviewers were from the US, and two were from India.

Round 2: Linked list questions (three, easy to medium). A few questions on work experience, discussing what I had worked on previously, and a friendly chat about virtualization to gauge my understanding.

Round 3 - Hiring Manager: An in-depth discussion of work experience, explanations of design decisions, and an assessment of technological alignment with the team.

Round 4 - OS, Virtualization, and Distributed Systems: The interviewer was very strict and reviewed every single bullet point on my resume, asking detailed questions about DNS, systems, the kernel, OS, multithreading, and multiprocessing. Although I was confident in my answers, they didn't seem to believe me, even after I confidently answered and double-checked them post-interview. This interviewer was quite direct and seemed intent on proving me wrong, which I had read about in other reviews regarding interviews with Indian interviewers at Nutanix.

Round 5 - Programming/Troubleshooting: This round focused on coding problems and questions about operating systems, virtualization, and networks. It ended a bit sooner than I expected.

I want to give a big shout-out to HR – they were among the best I've interacted with. Despite the mixed experiences with the interviews, the HR team's efficiency and helpfulness truly stood out.
