I went through the entire interview process with NVIDIA for a Sr. Software Engineer position.
The process was straightforward and smooth. It began with an initial interview with a tech lead, followed by a full panel interview that included:
Everyone I met was kind, nice, and polite. Up to this point, everything was positive. I left the final interview with a good feeling, believing I had given my best, and I was excited about the opportunity to join the team.
This is where things took a turn.
After about a week of waiting, I received a generic rejection email in the middle of the night, which felt dehumanizing. After investing over six hours of my time in interviews (without accounting for the many hours spent prepping), the only response I received was that they "decided to proceed with other candidates." This was the first thing I saw in my email when I woke up.
Later that day, I reached out to the recruiter, asking for additional feedback to understand what I could have done better for future opportunities. I received another dismissive response stating they could not share feedback.
I can understand this with candidates who don't pass an early stage of the interview process. However, after going through the entire process and receiving positive feedback from most of the interview panel, I had hoped for a more personal response from the recruiter, not some generic, automated rejection email sent in the middle of the night.
This was a significant disappointment from a company I was genuinely excited to work for. I have no complaints about any of the interviewers, and I completely understand that I might not have been a good fit for whatever reason. My only comment is that after putting so much effort into my end, the least that could be done is to offer better treatment to someone who went through the entire process.
Do better. :(
