I applied online for a separate Software Engineer position. A week later, I received an email from a recruiter stating that the hiring manager for another team had seen my resume and wished to interview me. The interview lasted approximately 45 minutes. He asked general OS and C++/C questions, all of which I answered correctly. He then complimented my performance and proceeded to discuss his team and their work. He even asked which location I would prefer. Although I didn't advance far in the interview process, he outlined his team's typical procedure:
The interview with the manager was fairly positive; it was the subsequent events that led to my negative experience. The manager had indicated I should hear back within a week. A week passed, and I emailed the recruiter inquiring about my application status, explaining that I had a competing offer with a deadline. She replied, promising to speak with him and the team before getting back to me. However, I never received a response. This same sequence of events repeated for five weeks. It wasn't until the fifth week that I received an email from a different recruiter informing me that they would not be moving forward.
By far, this was the most unprofessional and aggravating interview experience I've ever had. It's disappointing because I would have enjoyed working for this company. I hope your interview experience with NVIDIA is much better than mine.
