Pros

Awesome place for your first job if you are inclined to stay in the hardware device drivers domain.

You can interact with top employees of NVidia across the world, learning tons from them in the process.

Top-notch codebase, and the code review process is very rigorous, thus helping you hone your skills.

Cons
  • Pretty easy to get stagnated in the same role after about 2 years.
  • Managers in Pune are not tech-savvy in general and would go with the prevailing opinion of their superiors instead of basing decisions on technical details.
  • To get any meaningful work done, you would have to work in the same time zone as the HW/SW engineers in Santa Clara, but would still be expected to be seen in office during daytime.
Advice to Management
  • Get more technical managers in charge of engineers.
  • Do fair appraisals.
  • Micromanaging does not get more things done.
  • Don't ask engineers to spend time making status reports that you can then forward. Instead, hold brief bi-weekly standups to get an accurate idea of the progress being made.
