I applied for a Senior DevOps Engineer position.
I spoke with a recruiter, then had a screening call with the hiring manager.
I received a take-home assignment, which was relatively easy. I finished it in a few hours and then had to present it to their team.
Following that, I had two technical interviews and a behavioral interview.
They ended up extending a very generous offer. Although I interviewed for a Senior role, I received an offer for Principal based on my skills and their feedback.
The equity offered was more than I had requested, and they matched my salary ask.
I accepted their verbal offer, but the week after, I learned that the offer had been rejected by Oracle management. This was very disappointing, given the time and effort I invested in the interview process.
No reason was provided for the rejection, but I suspect it's related to their hiring freeze and the fact they wanted to offer me a Principal role.
I would really like to know why or if I could have done something differently.
Having the offer rescinded like that seems unprofessional for such a large company, but then again, what can I do about it?
Take-home assignment:
Questions about technical experiences in the past, biggest achievements, toughest challenges, etc.
