I was contacted by an HR representative from recruiting to set up an interview. Initially, there was an online test which consisted of multiple-choice questions, mostly from Java and databases. After a week, a face-to-face interview was scheduled. To my surprise, it was actually a coding test where they gave me a few problems, and I had to choose one to design and program. All the problems were fairly easy, and I basically just had to spend a day for an hour of coding. Later, I was contacted again and told that I had cleared the programming test and that a face-to-face interview would now be conducted.
In the face-to-face round, the first interview was with someone who probably had the same or less experience than me. These were all standard questions, and I answered them all. The next round was with an architect who asked many design-related questions and presented several problems to be solved using Java. Again, I performed very well. The next interview was with the manager, who asked the usual questions about why I was leaving my current company and what my expectations were for this new job. Then, the final round was with the Director, who again asked about my expectations. I told him that I already had an offer from a different company and that they should try to match it. He said the best they could do was match 80% of the other offer and then spent over an hour explaining why Oracle is a better company to work for than others. It was very clear that they were very impressed by the interviews, and the director almost urged me to join even if the offer wasn't what I was looking for. Later that day, I was contacted again by the manager by phone and asked if I would join if they offered 80% of the other offer, and I said yes. I sent out the required documents to HR but never really heard from them until now, which is six months from the face-to-face interview day.
