Good healthcare. Flexible working arrangements (sometimes too flexible for teamwork).
Pay - One tiny pay raise in five years. Plus, my salary is 20% below the Oracle average, thereby effectively taking a pay cut with inflation, etc.
Vacation - Vacation does not accrue after 18 days. Plus, this year, we are having mandatory time off at Christmas.
Constant chipping away at little things (like the above forced vacation, plus taking away expenses for home internet connection) to save a small amount of money just alienates huge swathes of staff.
Management has no clue on how to motivate the folks below and only cares about their own stock options and bonuses. We have seen way too many good technical people promoted to manager only to be a disaster in that role.
I doubt management is reading this, but they need to motivate staff better and also pay a bit better outside of Silicon Valley. Oh, and actually learn how to manage.
It was for OCI. Had 8 interviews in total: Initial interviews: - Recruiter - Tech screen (Technical questions/concepts) Whole day: - 3 Developers (coding + behavioral) - Engineering Mgr - Engineering Director Follow-up: - Engineering Mgr Result:
The first screening round focused on Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) or any questions related to your knowledge of the system. I was asked to design a job scheduler. It was an engaging discussion, and I cleared that round. After that, I entered
One-hour Zoom meeting interview with screen sharing. Initially started with current role and responsibilities. Then existing project architecture and tech stack. Then core Java, object-oriented design, and multithreading.
