Forward Deployed Engineer/Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

The interview process involved:

  • One call with a recruiter.
  • One call with an FDE (Field Deployment Engineer) to solve a technical problem.
  • Three onsite interviews covering system design, debugging, and algorithms.

Palantir seems like a company that likes to waste everyone's time. They interview 100 candidates a week and barely give any offers. They waste your time on calls and this full-day interview. They'd be better off screening candidates more effectively from the beginning. They clearly think they are superior and that anyone would be lucky to work for them.

I definitely do not recommend this place for a "team" environment. It seems they care mostly about selling the most product. They probably have more recruiters than engineers, just to waste everyone's time. I am not happy at all with the process and how much of my time they wasted.

I should also mention that all my interviews went very well. Having interviewed and worked in the software space for years, I am very surprised. They only seem to want a very specific type of person, yet they invite everyone and anyone.
