Process
We just went over my resume and discussed the work I was doing and the most challenging task that I'm proud of.
The interview then briefed me about Palantir and a day in the life of a Forward Deployed Engineer.
After some Q&A, we jumped into the coding challenge.
The phone interview was fairly straightforward.
Questions
Parse a CSV file while honoring quotes, so that "blah, meh" is treated as one column.

Pros: Transformative projects with customers who matter.
A-grade employees, driven towards material impact.
A very high degree of autonomy awarded to staff.
Cons: Resourcing - there are more opportunities than staff. Sometimes this means staff get stuck with one customer; sometimes it means that ownership can be lacking as staff move through a customer to fight a fire rather than truly fix an issue in a sustainable way.
Workforce is not especially diverse, despite everyone's efforts to address this.
Being in a branch office, it is sometimes hard to divine strategic and tactical vision. Conversely, we are given wide latitude to chart our own destiny.

Pros: - Most rapid growth in a role in 5 years of software experience.
- Most results and business-impacting work on my resume.
- High stakes and high pressure means I've been required to grow. I now have many stories about difficult situations and how I handled them well and poorly and learned from them. This is great for job interviews, builds the skills of a team lead and manager, and just makes me a more effective worker.
Cons: High-pressure, results-driven satisfying client demands means intermittent waves of pressure, leading to overtime. (Managers often encourage taking time off after working overtime.)
