I applied to Palantir online via their career portal, without a reference.
A few weeks later, I was sent a coding challenge.
After the coding challenge, a recruiter organized a call with me to provide details on two roles: Software Engineer and Forward-Deployed Software Engineer.
I stated I was open to either role, which was acceptable to them.
I had a phone technical interview about two weeks after that call, featuring one classic LeetCode-style algorithm question.
I received a default declined email about a week later.

Pros: - Really smart people
- Get to work on things that very few people/companies get exposure to
- Bleeding-edge technology
Cons: - Horrible WLB.
- Fair share of egotistical people; this could be common with top talent in tech.
- Questionable morality in certain silos. Some teams work with organizations on missions you know are good for the world, some you aren’t sure about.

Pros: Lots of growth opportunities if you're willing to teach yourself.
Many friendly and curious people.
Tasty food.
Fun events.
Good yoga classes.
Cons: The wheel is reinvented all the time here since we never actually use industry best practices. The leads are young (especially on product development), and it's an intensely political workplace. Many of the leads are horrible at giving honest feedback, and people are frequently burned by this (including myself). People are often praised for working through the night or weekends; they are never praised for planning ahead to avoid such catastrophes. Working long hours is a badge of honor here.

Pros: Palantir is a very well-run company with incredibly high-caliber employees and products.
Code reviews are rigorous, and the quality of software is stellar.
Lots of interesting work, fast-paced team.
Cons: The company's culture is such that you do need to be willing to commit more than just working hours to it. There is a culture of Palantir being in many aspects of life, from weekend hangouts to business trips, etc.
