Pros: Compensation, benefits, and immediate supervisors are really good. Most departments offer a lot of opportunities to succeed, enjoy your job for the most part, and still have a life outside of work.

Cons: The New Client Setup (NCS) Specialist and Paycom Service Department (PSD) Specialist are unreasonably difficult roles I would not wish on my worst enemy. Other client-facing positions can be difficult as well, but nothing compares to those two.

Pros: Cheap healthcare, catered lunches, an on-site gym, and wonderful teammates.

Cons: Paycom pays less when compared to similar companies. They took back their word on working from home, and leadership is way out of touch. Basically, if you don’t value yourself as a person and have no job experience, come work here, build up your résumé, and then leave. There are no write-ups or warnings ever. You will be fired without a chance to even explain your side. The only exceptions I’ve seen for this are two team leads who definitely should’ve been fired years ago (and several HR complaints ago), but they somehow manage to hang on. Paycom likes to claim that they don’t do layoffs, but every year they fire dozens and dozens of people for whatever reason they choose that year. The first time I witnessed this was in January 2023, when they decided to end remote work and bring everyone (except devs, because they’re royalty) back to the office. All those who voiced their opinions were fired. Then, in January 2024, teams got fired for working from home after they received approval from their supervisor and team lead. They claimed that it wasn’t approved by HR and then fired all of them. Paycom’s actions consistently show that they don’t care about their employees or value them. I feel like they like to pretend that they do by offering Zoom yoga classes and bringing llamas to campus. They do all these superficial things to make it seem like they’re such a wonderful company to work for. I am truly baffled how this company wins these made-up top workplace awards, because I do not know a single person who loves working at Paycom. I had dedicated nearly two years of my life to working here and doing the best I could with the constant changes, insane workloads due to a lack of team members, and large & rushed projects, but I made one mistake and was fired that day. I never complained about the ridiculous amount of overtime and stress I endured, but here I am without a job.

Pros: I genuinely enjoy my job at Paycom. That’s the only reason for me giving it two stars. I have the most amazing coworkers. My direct leaders are great. I absolutely love the work I do and the projects I get to be on. Benefits are great and affordable.

Cons: Upper management cannot be trusted. We were promised for three years that we would never go back to working full-time in office from a hybrid schedule. We are more productive at home, and I think our revenue and stock prices make that apparent. Yet, upper management tells us in a department-wide Zoom call that we “aren’t collaborating enough,” that we are “slipping in some areas,” and that one of the main factors for the decision is “to increase productivity.” We are being given a month to completely change our lives. Many people have built lives and families around being remote, and for a company to strip that away at a moment's notice without any support or compensation is just disgusting. Not to mention the fact that they have absolutely no data to back up their claims. It really just seems like someone at the top had a bad day and threw a tantrum and just said, “You know what would make me feel better? Ruining lives.” We don’t even have the space to bring everyone back, which further tells me this was a reactive decision and not a planned, thought-out one. I’m really considering my future with this company. I’m not sure I want to continue working somewhere where the upper management makes volatile, rash decisions without any regard for the employees those decisions affect. I feel betrayed by a company I once loved. I was lied to for three years. It’s just really sad.
