Office politics (even who wins a hackathon is decided by office politics).
Zero growth in 3 years (this depends on your team; my team was very bad).
A lot of proprietary software is used, leading to problems during interviews. I was rejected by a lot of startups because of this.
Work (in my team at least) is not challenging and also not interesting.
The dev environment is very bad. I worked on a project that was supposed to be completed in 1 month, but it took 6 months because of an unstable dev environment. Dev testing is really a pain in the ***.
There are too many contract workers (AWFs). AWFs are very, very bad. After giving them the problem, I had to explain the solution in micro detail, and still, they had problems executing it. They ask the same question 1000 times and don't even google the problem before asking for a solution 🤦♂️. They depend too much on you, and your productivity reduces.
All of the challenges in my work were due to bad code, a bad dev environment, and bad communication between teams.
Promotion based on your performance is a joke here. You'll get promoted if you are good at politics. I've seen MTS1s writing bad code.
Some managers practice micro-management.
Internal documentation is very bad.
I'm tired. I'll add more when I have time...
Stop hiring AWFs.
Promote people based on their performance.
Please hire good quality engineers.
