Software Engineer Interview Experience - San Francisco, California

Process

Applied through a university recruiter.

The process was very smooth and well organized. I was kept up to date the whole time, and it took less than 2 weeks.

I had two phone interviews.

Both included algorithms (read CLRS) and knowledge-based questions (know your Unix, networking, etc.).

Definitely make sure you review beforehand – the questions were more challenging than my Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, eBay, Microsoft, Salesforce, Yahoo, and SV startup interviews.

I chose Pinterest over other companies because I felt that the impact I could make would be greater, and the team that I interviewed with seemed like a good fit.

Questions

Generic algorithms questions - make sure to use data structures efficiently.

I didn't get any dynamic programming, but I did get a couple of graph questions.

You should also be somewhat proficient in using Unix commands and understand computer architectures.
