Pros: - Very "Pinteresty" environment, DIY, and artsy. Great for those who have a creative passion. There will be random fun events, KnitCon, and you can attend studio nights taught by an employee. - Lots of work to do, especially in ads and visual search. You will have a lot of impact with the work you do. - Very methodical with growth, which leads to building a better product (with ads). - Ben, CEO, has a great vision & direction and is very inspirational.

Cons: My biggest gripe is the amount of people who are not passionate about the company or product. Even during a short 3-month internship, I could see a problem with some people at Pinterest. It's a bigger problem if you're working outside of Product Engineering (working on the app). If you're really passionate about the product like I was, you'll be disappointed when you start interacting with people at the company. There are little career opportunities for engineers. HR is hiring people who can do the job, rather than teaching and building engineers to do it. It's not a great place to grow your career. Mentorship is very hit or miss. For interns, some get great mentors, while some get bad ones who don't care for your success. There are growing pains from getting bigger. A lot of org restructuring and outside people coming in, creating more levels of management. It feels like a bigger company where you have less freedom to do things. Food is very hit or miss, made by in-house chefs.

Pros: Remote, good with life balance, great pay

Cons: May not be able to socialize much with the team.

Cons: - Understaffed - Tight deadlines - Lots of pressure - Complex team dynamic - Underpaid At Pinterest, as a Software Engineer, it's expected that you do more than just what your title says. You create your own work, run meetings, act as the scrum master, own projects, and are pretty much in charge of everything you do. This can be good and bad. For me, it was bad, and here is why. At the beginning, I was told I'd be joining as a full stack developer. I thought the dynamic would be similar to other places. But here, they follow this "enhanced" version of Agile in which you create the tickets, add the description, and document everything (oh boy, do they like their Google Docs in this company) before doing the actual work. You then submit your document for validation, get some feedback, may or may not be approved to move forward, run your project, and finally go back to see what could have been improved. Again, all this could be good for you. But for me, it felt like I was becoming a jack of all trades, and they were saving money by not hiring more people to handle this process more efficiently. Lastly, I didn't code as much as in other places here. My time went into doing other stuff that I felt should have been done by someone else.
