Process

First, there is an online test of 10 questions on HackerRank. It involves:

  • 1 programming question
  • 1 debugging question
  • 8 multiple-choice questions

If you crack that, there are two rounds of on-site interviews, where you meet around five engineers and one manager.

Questions

Layout of inherited objects, table layout, and how virtual functions are inherited.

The interviewer started with a base class containing a virtual function and an inherited class. Then, they proceeded to access member functions and data from these base class objects and inherited class objects.

The interview question was to explain, using the vtable and the memory layout for each of these class instances, how and why the correct definition of the virtual function is resolved.
