Qualcomm Work Experiences
4.0
Sr. Software Engineer
Senior Software Engineer • Current Employee
San Diego, California, United States
October 14, 2015
Pros: Good benefits.
Some projects and groups are good, but most of the work is integration work.
Open and diverse work culture.
Cons: Long hours are expected.
Unfortunately, "firefighting" has become the norm, and people are rewarded for quick fixes rather than asking why we keep fighting fires.
"Visibility" via emails and messengers is rewarded more than the real engineers who did the work.
There is a lack of overall direction right now.
Poor documentation and software practices (s/w is secondary and is treated as such).
Lateral moves are pretty difficult despite what mgmt. says.
Not great for CS majors, but good for EE.
4.0
Decent company, smart employees, good work-life balance
Senior Software Engineer • Current Employee
San Diego, California, United States

Pros: Flexible work hours, good insurance and benefits, good work-life balance, innovative work, and good scope for career expansion and intra-company project shifting.
Cons: Occasional strenuous project workload. Work culture varies from project to project. Average salary. Poor rewards for innovation – this does not motivate employees to take that extra stride, innovate, and add to IPR.
2.0
Bad choice for a fresher and good technical people. Good for people who can track the issues
Senior Software Engineer • Current Employee

Pros: Work schedule is flexible.
But can't take advantage of it.
Loads of work.
Cons: Not good at recognizing talent. Many senior people without technical experience. Mere Gerrit/CR trackers.
