Pros

You will get all the perks that an MNC has. For example, you get lunch and snacks. The gym is there for fitness, and you'll get work-life balance (but not always, though mostly).

They support you to be fit mentally and physically. For that, they reimburse some health-related stuff like your Cult subscription, dance classes subscription, and more on a yearly basis.

Also, they provide medical insurance. Employees of Qualcomm can get their stock at a 15% discount rate.

Cons

I worked at Qualcomm for the past 1.7 years. During that period, I witnessed layoffs three times. Unfortunately, in the third round, I got laid off. I also heard that there will be more rounds of layoffs in upcoming years.

This causes an unstable working environment where you are always stressing about layoff news. While every company sees layoffs, what disappointed me here is that they are also hiring at the same time. A new employee is joining my team.

So, I asked my director and senior director about this and why the same team is hiring and removing. Honestly, it didn't spice up anything, and I did not receive any satisfaction. They all were talking in circles, blaming higher authorities.

Nobody got a hike in the company in 2023, and they are not planning to recompose last year and give a higher hike this year.

Also, I did not feel that the quality of work at Qualcomm was good. When I compare my other friends working in other big MNCs, there is a huge difference between their learning curves and mine.

In Qualcomm:

  • 80% of tasks are to debug.
  • 10% is removing compilation errors/warnings.
  • Other works include shifting a set of code from one version to another.

Only 10% of the work is where you will actually get the chance to code. So, if you code so little, you will automatically lose your coding skills. If you love coding and want to continue learning coding, Qualcomm is no place for you.
