Most of the management consists of former engineers who are not necessarily good managers. The performance review and coaching system is weak. Project management is weak. It's an extremely big place. There's a lot of fat in the organization. Most senior places are taken by long-timers, hence there are small opportunities for long-term career growth. Sometimes, work-life balance is neglected.
Do better project planning and management.
Only choose competent people as managers, directors, and VPs. (i.e., do not promote people into these positions just because they are good engineers.)
