Staff Engineer
Current Employee
Has worked at Qualcomm for less than 1 year

Santa Clara, California
1.0
Doesn't RecommendNo CEO Opinion
Pros
  • Trainings (though you may not have time for them at all)
  • Good benefits
  • Job security
  • A good start for fresh graduates
Cons
  • No management support. You need to drive/figure out/push around solely by yourself. Management is doing nothing but taking credits. There have been no 1-on-1 meetings from the direct manager for half a year.
  • Non-realistic deadlines.
  • Long, long hours. 60 hours per week is nothing, and you are not appreciated. You'd better be working 24/7.
  • No life. You are supposed to be a machine, not a human being.
  • Does not have a collaborative culture.
  • If your project lead is from another team, you are always the scapegoat for the project being behind schedule, even if it was behind far before you joined.
Advice to Management

Improve the mid-management people skills.

Treat your engineers with more respect, and don't act as if you were their master and they were slaves.

Let the engineers participate in the deadline decisions.
