Process

The recruitment team at Razorpay reached out to me regarding an open job opportunity.

They said the first round would be a screening round, followed by machine coding and further rounds.

Round 1: The interviewer asked me to describe what project I am working on. But as soon as I said anything, he jumped in and tried to predict the flow even before listening to the details. He cross-questioned a lot, but in the end, it was an interesting discussion. After the discussion, he passed me for the next round.

Round 2: HR asked me for a schedule on the weekend. I said I was busy on the weekend, so they scheduled a meeting on a weekday. In the interview invite, it was clearly written that the meeting was for 1 hour only. For this round, the same interviewer who took my previous round came. He started telling me that he would give me a question, then we would have a discussion for half an hour, and then I would code for 1 hour, followed by further discussion and running the code. I told him that HR had scheduled a 1-hour interview and I was not informed that the round would be taking more than 1 hour. As it was a weekday, I had other office meetings. I even showed the interviewer the interview invite where it was clearly written that the interview would be 60 minutes. Interviewer clearly understood this. He said he would ask HR for rescheduling.

But late at night, around 1 am, I received an automated email from HR stating that I was rejected for the role, quoting: "Based on our discussions, we are clearly impressed by the expertise & experience you have to offer; however, we regret to inform you that for the current position discussed, we will not be able to proceed with your candidature owing to the specificity of the position."

Very bad interview experience, where I was rejected without giving a proper interview. I had seen negative interview reviews for Razorpay on Glassdoor, but I didn't believe them earlier.
