I went through seven hours of interviewing and spoke with the Director of Engineering. I performed very well, and all feedback I received hinted at a job offer in the works.
Then, the HR person started stringing me along, telling me to follow up every two weeks as they were 'reviewing headcount.' This went on for almost two months before I got the hint and stopped asking.
Note to Rivian: If there is no longer a position, just inform the candidate instead of wasting everyone's time.
Now, eight months later, the lead of the team I interviewed with started messaging me on LinkedIn. There's no chance I will work for a company that disrespected my time like that.
Clear and honest communication in an interview process goes a long way if you want to keep the door open with potential candidates.
