I applied for a job position through the Indeed site.
Grace Lee from HR got back to me within 2-3 days of my application and scheduled a call with me for an initial discussion. We had a good discussion about my experience, availability, Roblox, and the open position. Once I was comfortable with the open position and felt it matched my skillset, she scheduled the next round of discussions.
I had a couple of telephonic interviews:
One very positive thing to note here was that I was provided with interviewer profile information and links to their profiles. This helped me to level-set with the interviewers.
After both interviews went well, I was invited for a one-day onsite interview from 11 AM to 4:30 PM. (They arrange for hotel and flights if you are not in the state.) The day was well-scheduled, where I met with people from different towers, such as database, network, and web.
I did not expect this, but it made sense as this is a small company, and the teams work very closely with each other.
I met the onsite DB team folks and had a discussion about my work experience, what Roblox had to offer me, ongoing and upcoming projects, and what was expected of me.
I met very interesting people from different technology towers and had nice conversations. I had a nice lunch discussion with the Director of Data Ops.
One of the sessions was for problem-solving approach (whiteboard), where I was given a few problems, like reversing an array, and asked for a solution. In this meeting/session, the approach was more important than reaching a quick solution. Hint: Don't assume, ask questions, and think about all solutions and their implementation outcomes (e.g., the size of the array in this case).
I was given an offer within a couple of days, and I accepted it :)
Q: The telephonic interview will be domain specific, and it's important for you to have hands-on experience. Q: There will be a lot of scenario-based questions.
