An HR person reached out to me to schedule the initial conversation. We decided on a day and time for the Hangouts call.

The call with HR was unprofessional, to say the least. The person spent the least amount of time describing the role, the company, and learning about my career goals, instead rushing into scheduling the interviews. While we were on the Hangouts call and I was talking, the person received two to three phone calls. Guess which one held more importance? It was those phone calls!

This became ridiculous and annoying at one point, but I still maintained my patience and professionalism. When a person is given a time, please honor theirs, along with yours. Whatever happened to professionalism and work ethic?

Coming to the phone screen a week later, we discussed a lot of the current tech we're working on and the problems we're trying to solve. Things went absolutely fine until a tricky math problem was hurled at me. Probably it was a very interesting problem for a Sunday project to solve, but are we attacking such problems every day? Wouldn't it be worthwhile to throw some reasonable coding challenges which we encounter in our day-to-day life? I would have loved to hear questions about system design for this role.

Well, I'm not the one to make decisions here. But I really wish I had a better interview experience! Kind of glad I'm not part of Rubrik.
