I interviewed for both Program Architect and Solution Architect roles.
The Program Architect interviews went smoothly, quickly, and flawlessly, and were wrapped up within 3 weeks. The recruiter was very prompt in sharing all required information about the process. I progressed to the final round, but the panel decided my skills were better suited to the Solution Architect role. My recruiter then connected me to the SA recruiter.
The Solution Architect interview process was tedious. The recruiter made the experience unpleasant and frustrating by sending invalid calendar links, getting the date wrong, and then getting the timezone wrong. After about 20 unnecessary email exchanges, I found he was low-balling me by about $65,000 for the SA role. Glassdoor averages were significantly higher for New York than what he offered. When I followed up about the total compensation before beginning the interviews, he added $20,000 to it on the spot, without any approvals, which further confirmed that he had indeed low-balled me. Overall, he had a snobbish and condescending tone, as if I didn't deserve to be paid and that he was doing me a favor by merely speaking with me.
The recruiter was not knowledgeable about what the different rounds of interviews entailed and did not know the level of the role within the company. When I asked for these pertinent details, the answers were vague at best.
This careless and unprofessional behavior on the recruiter's part, along with the low compensation, led me to withdraw from the interview process after the recruiter round.
