Process

Title: Cloud Hyperscale Engineer

The job description asked for public cloud experience and knowledge of other public cloud services. After speaking with the hiring manager, the job was for a Linux KVM engineer for their 10+ year-old physical data centers.

It's not hard to put in the job description that you want someone with Linux KVM experience if that is all the job will entail. Don't fluff up a job description and omit the single technology skill you need.

I didn't have Linux KVM experience. I had VMware experience.

Why would you create a job description that doesn't align with the skillsets you need? I didn't claim on my resume to have the skill, and you knew that. I told you I could pick it up, which isn't what the manager wanted. Why waste my time and yours?
