Really clean and well-defined pattern, but doubts on the evaluation process. Things that should have close to no value for a senior role were considered during the final evaluation.

I liked the old Shopify more
Senior Frontend Engineer • Former Employee
Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pros: The CEO is awesome when it comes to tech; a very smart person.
The product is amazing and changes people's lives.
Cons: After the pandemic, I feel like the company started hiring a lot of enterprise people from other companies, so it lost its essence. It's definitely not the same Shopify it used to be. The culture deteriorated from within after that, to the point it was no longer a good place to work.

Great place, but constant chaos
Senior Frontend Engineer • Current Employee

Pros: You get to work with great, talented people.
Really nice perks.
Digital by design.
Clear mission that is easy to empathize with (I loved our merchants).
Cons: Changes are constant and come out of nowhere. You could be close to completing a project when suddenly it gets canceled or needs to be redone on a new stack.
Young (a bit inexperienced) senior leadership with what felt like little empathy for the regular employees.
