A contact there scheduled a phone screen with a recruiter for me on a Friday morning. The recruiter emailed three minutes before we were scheduled to speak, stating he would not be able to make it. He asked me to email him my availability for the following week, and he would ensure he made time. I provided two available times: Monday morning and Tuesday morning.
Monday passed with no response. On Monday evening, I emailed my contact, who followed up with the recruiter. This resulted in my confirmation for Tuesday (the email confirmation arrived around 9:30 p.m. on Monday).
During our call, the recruiter was clearly reading from a list of questions and was not willing to engage in a conversational manner, appearing checked out. Additionally, it sounded like he was eating his lunch while we spoke, with chewing noises throughout. I felt that most of the questions were more suited for a Product Manager role rather than an Engineering role. They focused on potential features for Slack or new apps I liked and the reasons why.
The entire experience with the recruiter, from initial contact to the end, was rude and unprofessional. I felt as though I had been written off as a candidate before even speaking with him, which made me question why he was wasting both of our time.
What feature could we add to improve Slack?
What new app have you been into and why?
