Process
I applied via LinkedIn and received a call from the recruiter randomly, without a scheduled time. The recruiter seemed rushed and asked about my compensation expectations. I initially refused to answer, but he borderline bullied me, stating that withholding my expectations would work against me. I was surprised by the lack of professionalism.
He then asked me to provide dates for an interview. I informed him I needed to check my calendar and requested his email to send my availability. He responded by asking me to text him my availability.
I never bothered to follow up due to the poor experience of the call. I hope Splunk executives are aware of their recruiters' unprofessional behavior and how it poorly represents the company.

Pros: Employee culture is pretty good and relaxed. Many employees have families or other non-work responsibilities, so the work-life balance is good.
Benefits are decent, and PTO is flexible.
Occasionally, there are new directives that are interesting to work on. If you want a challenge, you can find things to improve or solve.
If you do the above, career progression is fantastic. Almost everyone I've worked with that has been with Splunk for a while has been promoted. While this may lead to inflated levels, it's great for the individual.
There are still some pretty smart people here, though many others have left.
Good pay for the work required, if all you're looking for is stability.
Diverse employee base.
Cons: - Management is 80% bad, 20% good; unfortunately, there is no unified direction.
- Occasionally, there are crunch periods due to management's poor planning.
- PMs are below average and have no common goal for the product. High churn rates mean directives change every 6 months or so.
- Work can be boring, using old tech. Products are all behind industry trends.
- The company doesn't really have a grand future.

Great Culture, Confusing Org

Pros: Basically, it is funny and lots of things you can do. People are nice and willing to talk.
The company culture is great. Though the hardware is not as good as Google, it is still a great company in the Bay Area.
Cons: The organization is kind of confusing. The management tends to hire new managers from outside instead of promoting somebody internally. The career path is not that steady, but actually it happens to every big data company.
