HR Phone Screen: 30 min Technical Screen: 1 hr
They had to scramble last minute to find someone for my technical screening, and they managed to dig up the worst interviewer I've had in 15 years in the industry. He spoke very broken English that I couldn't understand. He turned off his camera, so I couldn't even try reading his lips or body language. He only chimed in to argue with me about my solution. He didn't seem to understand the strategy of my solution and kept interrupting my thought process to challenge me about it. Since I couldn't understand him, I couldn't debate it effectively, and he didn't seem to want to let me continue. He also didn't address concerns when I was far enough along to notice what he was failing to communicate.
It's a real shame that Splunk believes LeetCode challenges are the way to see if a candidate 'can code,' while then providing a terrible environment for live coding challenges. I really wish I'd had an interviewer better at communicating or who could let me do the challenge in peace.
