Interviewed by four or five individuals. Moderate chit-chat and discussion of background, interests, and problem-solving techniques. I was highly impressed with the consideration and politeness of the interviewers. The company needs better communication between recruiters and interviewers.

Good Stock, Bad Hr

Pros: Good stock compensation for early employees, good core product, good name, SF, good benefits.
Cons: Incompetent HR. Promotions are about who you know. People are hired often who are not great fits but connected. There's a lack of development for management. Working with the recruiting team on hiring for my team was a joke. The engineering community reminds me of a frat house at times. I feel Splunk could have a discrimination lawsuit coming any day based on hiring practices and what is "acceptable". Senior engineers don't have a place here.

Work-Life Balance vs. Salary

Pros: If you land with the right team and manager, you'll have work-life balance.
Pays well.
Cons: If you land with the wrong manager and team, you will be burned out, guaranteed.
Very little diversity.
Some things that higher-ups talk about that benefit employers don't really go down the chain to make them a reality.

Pros: - Fairly low-stress environment
- Good pay
- Flexible hours & working conditions
Cons: - New C-level shakeups causing uncertainty and lack of direction.
- Incredible amounts of technical debt; the platform is too old to succeed at scale.
- Politics seem to decide what gets done rather than what's best for the customer.
