Beyond a brief intro email from a recruiter, I was forwarded a link to a HackerRank test.
The test is 60 minutes and you are given 5 questions. Because this was a frontend interview, the questions are required to be completed using JavaScript.
The HackerRank platform is pretty painful to use; it's slow to test your code. You're better off coding in your personal editor of choice and pasting into the HackerRank answer field.
It's buggy. For instance, for one question my answer worked locally on major browsers, but when run on the HackerRank platform, it crapped out and failed.
Overall, using HackerRank as a means to screen candidates was a pretty lousy experience. If I encounter another company that does this, I will more than likely pass on them.
Questions revolve around JS scope and closures, recursion, and some basic OOP.
