Process

Applied online and started with a recruiter screen, which was an informal chat about my background and interest in Stripe.

Next was the Technical Phone Screen, a 1-hour pair-programming session with an engineer. The problem was unique – nothing like LeetCode – focused on sys design, data structures, and databases, with follow-ups testing edge cases and optimizations.

The onsite had five rounds back-to-back.

  • First was coding, a real-world problem requiring clean, efficient code.
  • Next was behavioral with the hiring manager – standard leadership and collaboration questions.
  • Then came the bug bash, debugging a messy codebase with minimal context – definitely practice structured troubleshooting.
  • The system design round was open-ended, focusing on scalability and trade-offs (clarify assumptions early).
  • Last was integration, modifying an existing codebase, heavy on API handling and REST calls.

Prepped with Stripe API docs, Reddit, Blind, and mocks on Prepfully with an ex-Stripe coach – turned out to be super helpful.

Got the offer :)
