There was a phone interview with the recruiter to check my background. After that, I met with the main engineer to go over my background and some high-level concepts in data engineering. Finally, there was a code-pair interview and a system design interview on separate days.
The system design interview was canceled after the code-pair. Ultimately, it felt somewhat contrived and like they just want to hire more diverse candidates by focusing on very narrow metrics that were not clearly communicated.
(Oh, you found the smallest element using a sort instead of just an O(n) loop and didn't know I cared about that for this small method... -1 point since you should have asked for requirements every time!).
The questions they asked were all easy (essentially just mini LeetCode easy problems), and I answered all of them along with some extra work.
There were just simple methods they wanted to be implemented for a ticketing system. Some more general questions were asked at the end.
