Process

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks.

The process was as follows:

Screening call with HR
Screening call with tech lead
Take home assessment
Review of take home assessment and final call

I got to the take home assessment step.

Questions

Take-home task was a standard client-side frontend application consuming a public API. Shared deployed URL and code via GitHub. Code was reviewed in isolation (no chance for feedback / address issues) by a less experienced frontend developer (which fits with why they are trying to fill this role). Feedback indicated that the reviewer was unable to understand interesting code design choices and instead made incorrect or basic comments, e.g., "split into more files".

There is great energy across teams, and you can see the direct impact of your work on the product.

Cons: Priorities can shift frequently as the company moves quickly to respond to the market. Sometimes projects get reprioritized mid-stream, which can be frustrating if you like long, uninterrupted roadmaps — and you need to be comfortable with change.

Pros: - Things are very well set up for a startup of this size. - Clear and well-thought-out onboarding tasks. - Extremely helpful people at every turn who make onboarding so much easier. - AI tools that are a good perk and also reduced onboarding effort.

Cons: - Needs some more standardization around engineering principles that are driven from the bottom up - More architecture-level discussions need to happen
