First Step: Phone screen from HR rep to confirm your interest and expectations of the job.
Second Step: Longer phone interview with situation-based questions.
Third Step: Meet face-to-face with a store manager.
Within an hour after meeting with the Store Manager, I received the generic 'Thank you, but you are not moving forward' email. I am very confused by this. I believe each step in the process was a positive experience and conversation. I felt that the HR contact and the store manager both had meaningful and relevant conversations about my experience and skills. At no point did either of them show any hesitation or reservations regarding my skills or experience.
I have 10+ years of experience managing big-box retail. I've managed stores larger than any Target store. The store manager explained there is a scoring system based on my answers. I can only assume that I did not score high enough.
This company has removed the 'human' from the Human Resources process and relies on a score to determine someone's qualifications and experience. I was looking forward to working for Target. Now I will never consider them again for employment.
