Software Engineer Interview Experience - Minneapolis, Minnesota
Process
I interviewed as part of the "Women in Technology" symposium.
A Senior Engineer was my interviewer. He was very personable, and the whole process was quite conversational.
We talked about my interest in technology, any side projects I’ve been working on, and answered a couple of STAR-based questions (e.g., "Tell me about a time...").
Then, I had one whiteboard question, and we spent the rest of our time chatting about college and technology at Target.
It was great.

- 4.0Good Treatment, Needs DiversitySoftware Engineer • Current EmployeeMinneapolis, Minnesota, United StatesMarch 3, 2024Pros: They treat their employees very well.Cons: They try hard to have diversity and inclusion, but they still need to work on diversifying their workforce.
- 4.0Great work-life balance, floater mindset, and mid-range paySoftware Engineer • Current EmployeeMinneapolis, Minnesota, United StatesNovember 12, 2020Pros: Great work-life balance. Very good out-of-college learning program, despite lower pay during that time.Cons: It is tough to deal with the disconnect between the business and tech sides on occasion. There is a "settling for mediocrity" mindset with engineers. So many engineers at the same pay grade clearly don't know what they're doing. It's demoralizing.
- 5.0Great Culture, Useless LeadersSoftware Engineer • Current EmployeeMinneapolis, Minnesota, United StatesDecember 2, 2020Pros: Great company with an amazing culture.Cons: Too many non-tech leaders sitting here for years at Director and Sr. Director level, adding no value to the engineering org and engineers like me.
