Pros: Intern projects are split into manageable pieces across 10 weeks, including an initial 1-2 weeks of learning the technology stack and getting up to speed with the development cycle.
Great work-life balance.
Intern week (in person, fully paid relocation for the week).
Cons: Having the right culture and values fit is very important at Target, otherwise you feel out of place.

Pros: Moving fast, things are changing. Use new technologies such as Jenkins, Chef, Cassandra, etc.
Cons: Too bureaucratic and structured, a corporate environment. Changing, but not fast enough. Bad communication between teams and hard to gain information.

Pros: Everyone is incredibly friendly, and tech employees are given a lot of freedom to develop relatively uninhibited.
Interns are given nontrivial projects, but nothing that is too overwhelming.
There is also a robust support system in place between managers, mentors, and HR to help with any intern problems.
Cons: Target is a retail company, not a tech company, so at the end of the day, the culture and feel of the company will be focused on that, despite all of their recent technological initiatives. It is also a huge corporation and, unsurprisingly, can sometimes feel enormous, impersonal, and bureaucratic. Given these unavoidable constants, though, it seems to have done the best it can to cultivate a warm and positive culture.
