Enjoyed working there. The pay and benefits were good, but not amazing. Management was pretty good, as I cannot complain even after being fired.
Not enough machine time or time doing any specific tasks beyond deburring, stoning/polishing, and assembly. I understand with the advancements of CNC machining that a lot of these other tasks are less frequent/necessary. However, that compounded with not wanting an apprentice to do it makes it more difficult to gain more skills.
A lot of miscommunication or unclear communication issues where there isn't a clear answer; reading between the lines. I know being a glorified, defacto janitor is common for apprentices for a while, but it does seem a bit excessive when it is a weekly, sometimes daily, occurrence to have no work to do or be allowed to do anything.
More structure for apprentices, and not just regarding cleaning and painting. A tool account would also be helpful for apprentices, as tools are expensive and inflation isn't helping.
It was a very good interview with one of the managers. He asked me technical questions related to the role, some based on the seven-principles theory and some on conditional logic.
Extremely difficult. Had 8 interviews over 3 months. Some even went through the whole process, got hired, and still had their offers retracted after giving 2 weeks' notice to their current employment. Very scary.
Referred by an employer. I only faced the first round, as I was not selected for the next step. The interview went on for an hour, sharing about the position, company, and job responsibilities.
