The interview process was standard. A screening followed by an onsite of 2 coding, 2 system design, and a behavioral interview.
The coding onsites: 1 is a standard LeetCode-style question, and the other is an Object-Oriented style interview.
System designs are pretty standard.
I solved 2 out of 3 parts in one of the coding rounds. However, I think it was my system design interview with a relatively inexperienced senior developer which was the nail in the coffin.
The system design interviewer did not understand how a queue worked. They did not understand why it's important to reduce variability for the sake of reliability when it comes to running systems at scale.
Instead of leaning into anything that was new to them and trying to understand it, they constantly tried to push the interview to a position of simpler concepts that they understood, which belies their inexperience.
Frankly, I am surprised that they are allowed to interview for relatively senior roles.
On the flip side, the person who did my screening was probably one of the best interviewers I have met and also seemed very smart.
