The job was for the TikTok Bangladesh market. The interviewer was from Bangladesh as well.
The interview was supposed to end in 15 minutes, but the interviewer asked me questions for 45 to 50 minutes straight. At first, he asked me some basic behavioral questions. Then, he shared a paragraph in Bengali and asked me to read it, which I did with ease.
Next, he showed me 10 TikTok videos and asked me to determine whether they required any action. I answered all those questions very easily and correctly, even mentioning the applicable policies. He seemed happy with my answers and agreed with them.
Finally, he showed me a video where four Bangladeshi cricketers were singing and dancing joyfully with their fans. I reviewed that they were Bangladeshi cricketers and that the video did not require any action.
He then asked, "Can you name them?" I replied, "One is Shakib Al Hasan, one is the Bangladesh wicketkeeper, and I don't remember the names of the other two."
He then asked me some technical questions on Advanced MS Excel, which were not even needed for that job, and I answered them correctly.
However, two days later, I found out I was rejected due to my insufficient knowledge about Bangladesh culture. I have never seen such an interviewer who rejects a candidate without any proper reason.
